The Orthodontic Technicians Association (OTA) was established in 1971 and is a UK based not-for-profit professional body representing dental technicians with a special interest in orthodontics. The OTA is an affiliate organisation of the British Orthodontic Society (BOS) and acts as an advisory body to institutions and individuals on the use of all orthodontic laboratory techniques and the service orthodontic technicians provide. The aims of the Association are to encourage study, promote the highest standards of practice and advance the knowledge of orthodontic laboratory and clinical techniques for the benefit of patients and the orthodontic team. The OTA hosts an annual conference, branded as the ‘Dental Professionals Conference’ (DPC), which is open to the entire dental team. Benefits of membership include a quarterly newsletter, full access to the OTA website, a discounted subscription rate for the Journal of Orthodontics and discounted rates for the DPC and British Orthodontic Conference (BOC).
