Nikolai grew up in Australia where he completed his dental training in 1996. He moved to England in 1999 where he has since worked in general dental practice as an associate and for the last nine years has run his own practice in Castle Cary, Somerset. Whilst having had several papers published in restorative dentistry, his passion is infection control in dentistry. As a practice owner Nikolai is acutely aware of the regulatory pressures and the financial impact infection control has on the delivery of dental care. His aim is to deliver infection control education that gives the dental team a deeper understanding of this core subject.
Dr Brenda Murray BSc, PhD, BDS, MFD RSCI, DDR RCR
Dr Brenda Murray graduated in Dentistry from Queen’s University Belfast in 1998 after completing an intercalated BSc and PhD in Anatomy. She then worked as a Clinical Research Fellow in Oral Medicine and Clinical Lecturer in Oral Sciences in Belfast for the next 5 years during which time she completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching. Dr Murray completed Specialist Training in Leeds in 2007 and was appointed as Consultant in Dental & Maxillofacial Radiology in Leeds Dental Institute in 2008 and in the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2009. Her main clinical interests are head and neck ultrasound and cone beam CT. Dr Murray is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the University of Leeds and has been Training Programme Director for Specialist Training in Dental & Maxillofacial Radiology in Leeds since 2014. She also sits on the Specialist Advisory Committee for the Additional Dental Specialties.
Dr Greenwall is a Specialist in Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics. She is an international lecturer and an authority on tooth whitening, aesthetic dentistry and practice management. As well as running a multidisciplinary private practice in Hampstead, London where she works with a specialist team in the practice which has an Endodontist, Periodontist, Implant Surgeon, Oral Surgeon and Orthodontist. She is an immediate past Chairperson for the Alpha Omega Society 2012/13 and Editor-in-chief of the journal Aesthetic Dentistry Today and is President of the British Dental Association for the Metropolitan London Branch for 2015/2016. In March 2016 she was awarded the FMC Award for the Outstanding Contribution to Dentistry.
Her first book, Bleaching Techniques in Restorative Dentistry, won the award for Best New Dental Book 2001, the book has been translated into 5 different languages. She has written many papers for dentistry journals. Dr Greenwall’s Success Strategies for the Aesthetic Dental Practice was published by Quintessence in 2011 which was Co-wrote with Dr Cathy Jameson. In May 2017 Bleaching Techniques second edition was published.
In 2008, Linda launched and is past chair of the British Dental Bleaching Society (BDBS), which aims to lobby for changes in the controversial bleaching legislation, and to educate dentists in tooth whitening. In 2011 she launched the Dental Wellness Trust, a charity aiming to provide preventive oral health programmes and dental awareness in less fortunate communities such as the elderly and vulnerable kids. The Dental Wellness trust promotes wellness through oral health through their innovative supervised brushing programmes in 5 schools. In 2017 she will be opening a dental clinic in the townships of South Africa for the children with no access to dental care. She has created evening health clubs for the children in the Township called the LiveSmart Club. Children are taught good brushing, hand washing and personal safety. To date the charity looks after over 10,000 children per day who are enrolled in a supervised tooth brushing programme.
In June 2014, she co led a dental outreach programme with the Dental Wellness Trust which was held during the IADR Convention in Cape Town South Africa. This was a collaboration with the University of the Western Cape Dental School. During this time 280 children were treated by 15 international dentists attending the convention.
Dr Greenwall has since been awarded a BEM in the queen’s birthday honours list for 2017.
Phil Jevon is Resuscitation Officer/ Clinical Skills Lead at The Manor Hospital, Walsall. He runs and directs the Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS, ILS, EPLS Courses and still works regularly in the clinical area. A key part of his role is to provide simulation training for medical students on SIMMAN in clinical examination/diagnosis skills – he has recently been awarded honorary Clinical lecturer in recognition of this work.
Philip Lewis BDS qualified at Kings College, London in 1977.
He has had an interest in the early detection of mouth cancer for many years. He continues to be heavily involved with the subject and in 2013 was appointed an Ambassador for the Mouth Cancer Foundation.
Philip has always taken a keen interest in postgraduate education and the development of dentistry. As well as writing and lecturing on mouth cancer he serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of several dental magazines and has received awards for commitment to postgraduate education. He holds Certification from the European Society of Cosmetic Dentistry and has been an active member of a number of other dental societies.
In addition, Philip is a long-serving member of the British Dental Association and now acts as a media spokesman. He has made many television and radio appearances as well as having numerous articles and interviews published in the dental and consumer press.
Philip regularly writes for the dental press and lectures to dental professionals on a variety of clinical and practice management topics as well as giving talks on dental related subjects to groups of the general public.
Philip Lewis runs a single-handed practice on the Isle of Wight with the help of a dental hygienist. His wife Joy acts as receptionist/practice manager. His daughters Chloe and Sarah are both qualified dental nurses.
Outside of dentistry, Philip takes an interest in music, drama and travel.
Sandra worked as a Dental Nurse for 20 years, qualifying in 1999.
She has worked in general dental practice and within the community dental service.
She embarked on a career in infection control following her appointment as Senior Dental Nurse treating patients with communicable diseases.
Sandra has retrained and now has a Degree in Health Protection.
Sandra was employed as Dental Infection Control Advisor for three PCTs between 2004-2015.
Sandra is also DCP Patch Associate Dean to London Dental Education and Training and Trust Compliance Manger for three hospitals.
Prof Rees graduated from Cardiff University in 1984 and was awarded his MSc in Conservative Dentistry and his FDSRCS (Ed) in 1988. He gained his PhD and completed his higher training in Restorative Dentistry in 1996. He was appointed to a Chair in Restorative Dentistry at Cardiff University in 2004. He is currently the Director of the M Clin Dent Prosthodontics programme at Cardiff and
his research interests include biomechanics, tooth wear and dentine sensitivity and he has published over 100 per reviewed articles in these areas.

Liam qualified in 1996 from Bristol University, he went on to complete vocational training and SHO posts in Bristol and the South West whilst doing a session a week in practice. He then Moved to Liverpool to complete an MPhil and work in practice part time. In 2001 he returned to his home city of Cardiff to complete an StR programme in Restorative Dentistry. Liam was appointed to consultant in Restorative Dentistry in 2006. His main role is as lead of the oral rehabilitation service for head and neck cancer patients, but he runs a regular restorative referral service clinic every week for general dental practitioners, as well as a monthly dental anomalies MDT. Liam Has provided over 100 post graduate hands on courses in South Wales and publishes 40 peer reviewed papers.
