Accredited MSc In Dental Implantology

Accredited msc in dental implantology

ICE Postgraduate Dental Institute and Hospital are now working with The University of Salford to introduce the new MSc in Dental Implantology.

Students will enrol onto the course in September 2019 and will have access to surgical equipment, patients and mentorship at ICE’s state of the art purpose-built site, based in Salford Quays close to the University of Salford’s MediaCityUK campus.

The programme is aimed at dentists who want to progress their career by gaining new skills to provide dental implants and has been designed to take away the stress of delegates finding their own patients, allowing them to concentrate on their own education and training.

The MSc in Dental Implantology course is aimed to equip dental clinicians with core clinical skills and competency in both the restorative and surgical aspects of implant dentistry, through a combination of clinical support and academic teaching in accordance with the GDP/FGDP Training Standards in Implant Dentistry.

It will enable participants to find out about evidence-based treatment planning, patient communication, legal and ethical considerations, and related human factor concepts to improve the quality of care, treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction. They will also learn about new digital workflow technology such as Dental Cone Beam CT Scanning, 3D printing, milling, and minimally invasive computer guided surgery.

This structured course provides clinical support and academic teaching in accordance with the FGDP training standards in Implant Dentistry. The revised programme offers a high-quality learning experience for lifelong learning.

The MSc is a 3-year part-time course which accredited through ICE’s new partnership with the University of Salford. After 2 years on the course, students will have the option of graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma. This has been specifically designed to take the stress away from finding patients and provide a mentor to help you complete your first few cases with confidence. For those who wish to complete the MSc, they will complete a research project and write a dissertation in their 3rd year. ICE focuses on Human Factors research, but students can research other fields as well.

ICE provides all the required equipment, patients, and mentorship to help you treat a diverse range of implant cases (min. 4 patients) within your comfort zone, and gain the practical skills and competency in patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. All this will be done under to supervision of a clinical mentor within our purpose-built facilities.

In the first 2 years of the course, students will study 4 modules that will cover the whole implant process from treatment planning to placement and restoration. During this period, clinical training will also take place. ICE provides a range of model heads for students to practice before seeing patients. All patients are provided for students at the ICE Hospital based in Manchester, Salford Quays and each student will place a minimum of 4 implants.
